Junior Member Scholarship Opportunity

The Irish Setter Club of Ohio recognizes the importance of juniors in all areas of our sport including Junior Handling, Conformation, Performance, or Companion events. This scholarship also recognizes the importance of education, creating informed and well –rounded adults. Our Juniors are important to the future of the sport of dogs and dog ownership. To recognize our Junior Club members ISCO is offering one scholarship per year. Scholarship selections will be made by ISCO Board of Directors.
Irish Setter Club of Ohio is offering a $500.00 Scholarship to qualified applicants. Deadline for application will be April 30th of the current year. Scholarship will be presented at the ISCO Specialty Show in August. Scholarship will be sent directly to the Students College or Vocational School.
Criteria for awarding Scholarship;
- Applicant’s degree of involvement in AKC events and participation in ISCO club events, including exhibiting, assisting on committees, and helping at events.
- Applicant’s higher education goals.
- Applicant’s financial need.
- Applicants GPA.
- Extracurricular activities; school, community, youth organizations (4H, FFA, Scouts etc).
Qualifications
- All applicants must be actively showing an Irish Setter in AKC events including Conformation, Juniors, Companion events, and/or Performance Events.
- Applicant must be either a full or Junior member of ISCO.
- Scholarship is open to Graduating High School Seniors who are pursuing a two or four year degree at an accredited College or Vocational School for the current year.
- Copy of Current transcripts showing a GPA of 2.5 or higher attached to application
- Show acceptance at the college of their choice including their student ID Number and the name and address of the college or university or Vocational School.
- Letter of recommendation from an ISCO member not their parent
Essay: One to two page essay on; How you will pursue your education, what you plan to do with your education and how that education will be of help to others.
Or– One to two page Essay on; How you became involved in AKC events, how has it benefited you and what goal (s) has it helped you to achieve or develop.
